Abercrombie & Fitch launched a new “getaway” retail concept catering to its millennial and Gen-Z customers’ affinity for travel and inspired by the feelings one experiences at the start of a long weekend. To offer its customers a “vacation from the typical shopping space,” participating locations are designed to replicate a chic hotel lobby, complete with a check-in desk. Featured stylized spaces inspired by consumers’ interests include a dedicated denim studio and fitting rooms optimized with customizable lighting and chic design elements. Aesthetics are not the only driver behind the updated concept. Enhancing the store’s omni-channel functionality is also a top priority as the brand recognizes the variety of needs its stores serve. The flow and design elements were carefully considered to reflect customers’ ideal experience, whether discovering new products, picking up online orders, figuring out their best fit, or enjoying the brand experience. The first two Abercrombie & Fitch stores getting the “getaway” concept treatment opened at Los Angeles Del Amo Fashion Center and outside Milan in the Il Centro Shopping Center. Throughout the remainder of 2022, several more of these concept stores have planned openings, and more openings will take place in 2023.
