Supreme and Nike Just Dropped One Seriously Luxe Sneaker
Season after season, Supreme and Nike join forces to release some of the most covetable kicks in the game. The New York streetwear label often digs deep into the Swoosh’s archive and thrusts a previously overlooked silhouette into the sneaker stratosphere. Recent collections have rendered a cult-loved indoor soccer shoe, a flame-covered dad sneaker, and a bejeweled aughts-era skate shoe, just to name a few. This week, Supreme and Nike have teamed up on an ultra-luxe version of the Air Max 95, elevating and dressing up the classic shoe into something of a high-fashion sneaker.
Made in Italy exclusively for Supreme, the collaborative sneaker features an Italian leather upper with laser perforated logo side panel and gets the full leather lining treatment. Other high-end details include custom leather insoles with gold lettering pressed into the heel and glossy metal hang tags. The Air Max 95 is a curious choice for a high-end makeover but one that feels very spot-on to a brand like Supreme. Nike ACG designer Sergio Lozano was tapped to bring a fresh (and outdoorsy) perspective to the Air Max series. The distinctly rippled running sneaker would make its debut in the mid-1990s to little fanfare. While the sneaker never became an ultra-popular running shoe as intended, it was embraced by sneakerhead and hip-hop communities alike.
